Perforated pipe hung horizontally above the set, delivering uniform rain over a limited area. The standard rain solution for interior and close-range work.
The rain bar is a pipe with a series of nozzles, connected to a water supply with a pressure regulator and suspended above the scene. It delivers rain over a clearly defined area — precisely where the camera is looking.
Why This Is Enough
Because only the frame needs to be wet. A bar above the window being filmed through looks like a downpour over the city. Rain outside the frame is water consumption without effect.
On Set
- Backlight, otherwise the drops will be invisible.
- Plan water drainage before starting — interiors and old buildings do not tolerate standing water.
- Pre-soaking. Dry ground under fresh rain looks wrong; the area is pre-soaked.
- Separate electricity and water: lights in the rain area need protection and RCDs (Residual Current Devices).
