Shots with performers suspended on wires for flights, jumps, and falls. The wires are removed in post-production.
Wire Work takes weight off the body: the performer is suspended in a harness from one or more wires and is pulled, held, or slowed down. What appears in the frame as a jump, flight, or fall is a guided movement.
What it enables
- Jumps over distances and heights that would be impossible without wires.
- Slowed falls — the performer falls, but at a controlled speed.
- Fight choreography with movements against gravity.
What comes after
The wires are removed in post-production. This requires effort and must be considered during the shoot: a stable background in the areas where wires are present, a clean separation from the subject, and if possible, a clean plate of the same shot without the performer. Those who forget this will pay for it threefold in compositing.
