Designated space for production vehicles, trailers, and crew — on location shoots it's a dedicated logistics item and often the reason a location doesn't work.
Parking space sounds like a minor detail, but for exterior shoots, it's one of the first questions: A typical shooting day brings technical trucks, generators, makeup trailers, costume trailers, catering, sanitation trailers, and twenty to forty private vehicles.
What is planned
- Technical areas close to the set — the shorter the distance, the faster the setup.
- Basecamp for the trailers, often a few hundred meters away, with a shuttle.
- Crew parking separate from this, to keep pathways clear.
How it is procured
Through no-parking zones, which are applied for and set up in advance, through rented private areas, or parking garages. A location without parking space is not a location — that's why location scouts photograph the parking area as well.
