Electronic Press Kit: the media package for press use — interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, clips, and stills. Produced during the shoot, not after.
The EPK is the press material for a film: interviews with cast and crew, behind-the-scenes footage, selected film clips, stills. Broadcasters, online portals, and editorial teams use this material.
Why it's created during filming
Because the situation cannot be recreated afterward. An interview with the lead actor in costume on location is different from one in a hotel room six months later – and the crew will have long since moved on to other projects.
How it's handled on set
- A dedicated small team that works in parallel and does not hold up the set.
- Fixed time slots for interviews, scheduled in the production plan – otherwise, they won't happen.
- Approvals. Those being filmed must consent; this also applies to crew in the background.
- Confidentiality – what is not allowed to be shown in advance is determined beforehand.
