Mobile kitchen that cooks hot meals on location for cast and crew — distinct from Craft Service, which only provides snacks and beverages.
The Catering Truck is a kitchen on wheels: stove, oven, refrigeration, serving. It provides meals, while Craft Service covers the time in between.
What is planned
- Parking space with access, power or generator, water, and grease trap.
- Dining area — tent or room, weatherproof, with seating for half the crew simultaneously.
- Time slot. Serving must function during the break; a twenty-minute queue eats up half the meal.
- Dietary requirements are requested and reported in advance, not resolved at the buffet.
Hygiene
The same regulations apply to mobile catering as to stationary catering — cold chain, temperature logs, handwashing facilities. This is the caterer's responsibility and part of what the production purchases.
