Was ist IMAX?
IMAX (Image Maximum) ist ein kanadisches Großformat-Kino- und Projektionssystem, das 1967 entwickelt wurde. Das System umfasst spezialisierte Kameras, Filmmaterial, Projektoren und eigens konstruierte Kinosäle.
Das Kernstück ist das 65mm 15-Perf Filmformat – der größte kommerziell genutzte Filmstreifen. Mit einer Bildfläche von 69,6 × 48,5 mm bietet IMAX etwa zehnmal mehr Auflösung als Standard-35mm-Film (äquivalent zu 18K).
