Spark effect at the point of impact — simulates hits on metal, stone, or concrete. Small pyrotechnic charge, placed and triggered by the effects team.
The Spark Hit is the shower of sparks where something impacts: on a house wall, a vehicle, a railing. Technically, it is a small pyrotechnic charge that is built into or adhered to the material and ignited electrically.
Why Not Digital
This is also done – but the practical effect brings something that is expensive to replicate later: real light. A spark impact illuminates the surroundings for fractions of a second, and this reflection on faces, paint, and glass is complex to recreate in compositing.
On Set
- Eye protection for everyone in the effect area, including actors.
- Distance and safety briefing as with all pyrotechnics.
- Check the surface – ignition will not occur on flammable material, and the area is checked after each take.
Setting and ignition are exclusively handled by the pyrotechnician.
