Costume crew member who manages stock on set: prepping, collecting, labeling, and returning pieces. Supports the standby costumer.
The Set Costumer manages the wardrobe circulation: they bring the day's costumes to the set, distribute them, collect them, and return them to the truck — labeled, sorted, and if necessary, to the laundry.
Why This Is a Separate Role
Because a shooting day with thirty extras involves moving thirty complete wardrobes, plus the main cast's, plus duplicates. Without someone managing this, a piece will be missing the next day — and continuity is lost.
Critical Moments
- Distribution to Extras — with assignment, so the same person gets the same item back.
- Collection at the end of shooting, complete. What goes home rarely returns.
- Separation of clean, worn, and damaged items.
