Lens shop in Los Angeles, founded 2019 by Tim Arasheben. Takes current full-frame glass apart and degrades it on purpose — not vintage optics, but new optics made imperfect by design.
Masterbuilt comes from New Zealand and builds lenses that are intentionally imperfect: controlled soft-focus, halation, glow. In an industry that is becoming ever sharper, Masterbuilt consciously takes the opposite path. Their glass is used for music videos, commercials, and feature films that require a painterly look.
