Trailer housing restrooms and small dressing rooms — the mobile base-camp utility unit, named after the old sewage tank.
The Honey Wagon is the trailer equipped with restrooms and several small compartments that serve as dressing rooms or changing areas. The name originates from the wastewater tank – the term is meant ironically and has stuck.
What it Provides
- Restrooms for the crew, independent of the location. The most common reason location owners turn down a production a second time is the use of their own sanitary facilities.
- Small compartments for changing – for extras and minor roles who don't get their own trailer.
Planning
It requires space for parking, fresh water, and waste disposal – the latter is ordered, not improvised. For longer shoots at the same location, pumping out occurs during the shooting day to ensure sufficient capacity. The number of compartments depends on the crew size; an undersized unit costs time during every break.
