The daily record of what was actually shot, how long it took, stock used, and any variances. Distributed to production, financiers, and insurance.
The Daily Production Report is the counterpart to the call sheet: the call sheet states what is planned, the report states what happened. It is created after the end of shooting and is the document on which all later disputes are based.
What is recorded
- Times. Crew call, first clap, breaks, end of shooting — per department, where they deviate.
- Progress. Which scenes are shot, in pages and minutes, calculated against the plan.
- Material. Meters or data volume used, number of takes.
- Deviations. Breakdowns, injuries, damages, weather, waiting times — with times.
Why the deviations are the actual part
Because they are the proof. If a shooting day is lost and insurance is to step in, the question of whether the reason was documented on the same day is decisive. A report submitted later is not proof.
