The Art Department Assistant is the executive force of the set dressing department: they fetch, bring, set up, put away, and document. Their work is primarily logistics and the reason the department can deliver at all.
What's Involved
- Procurement. Buying, renting, picking up props and furniture — with receipts, because everything must be returned or accounted for.
- Transport and Storage. What is where must be findable.
- Setup and Dismantling on location, together with the set dressing team.
- Documentation — photos of the setup, so it can be recreated on the next shooting day.
What Makes the Difference
Receipts and photos. A department that cannot prove what was rented and where it needs to be returned at the end of the production will pay the difference.
